Out and About: A Wintery Mix

On January seventeenth through eighteenth, we received a slippery, slushy, snow, sleet and rain mix. It was gray, dim and foggy, as well. However, Mother Nature provided me with a few interesting photos. Take a look!

Out and About: Barred Owl Sightings

Barred Owl in White Pine on Zim- Smith Trail  (taken January 2013)
The Barred Owl has been sighted a couple of times this winter by Dennis and Marsha. They have seen it by the Peck Avenue woods and South Lawn around seven in the morning. Katie has seen it too. Gary told me that he has heard its call, Who Cooks for you, who cooks for you all! Keep your eyes open for it. The one in the photo tucked into the pine and slept after a night out hunting.

Out and About: Cooper's Hawk on New Year's Day 2017

I saw this hawk fly to a treetop a block away while sitting in my living room

I had to go outside for a closer look. A Cooper's Hawk. It hung out for about an hour!
